One of the most significant desires of human beings is to obtain happiness, regardless of the circumstances that surround us we all dream of finding it. Even fairy tales usually ends with a phrase that encompasses how fantastic life can be, “…..and they were happily ever after.”
The pursuit of happiness is so important that the United States Constitution guarantees the right to fight to obtain it. However the process of obtaining it is usually a bit exhausting, but if we work hard day by day we can get great results that will benefit us in an extraordinary way.
The real mystery is to ask whether we really are happy. Life does not have a recipe that would guarantee us eternal happiness, but we have the power within us to fight daily for our happiness.
We must bear in mind that happiness is not a place we can go to but rather an attitude toward life, and the best part is that is available to all who are dedicated to achieve it. I will reveal some steps leading to obtained happiness.
The first step is the attitude towards life, as I mentioned happiness is a choice we can take at any time. We control our thoughts and our thoughts are what make us happy and not the circumstances of life, because we have the power to dominate our thoughts and feelings.
The second step is to live to the fullest, enjoying every moment of our life as if it were your last. In this way we savor each second in a different way, because life is so predictable that we cannot anticipate what will happen tomorrow, but we can enjoy and enrich our present.
The third step is to learn to forgive. While our heart has feelings of resentment and hatred it will be impossible to obtain happiness. The great thing is that forgiveness frees us from suffering and guilt and it helps us to be free in body and soul.
The fourth step is acceptance. To be happy is not necessary to be perfect or project an image contrary to who we really are. We must love and believe in oneself and that will pay off.
The fifth step is to feel full, satisfied and fulfilled in life. We must do what fills our spirit. Happy people do not follow their passions in pursuit of fame they do so simply because that’s what fulfills them. So we have to indulge in the moment of the day doing what we love, even something simple the fact is doing anything exciting for our spirit.
The sixth step is to have goals and objectives. We are all capable of achieving what we set in life, no matter how difficult it is neither distant or near. The most important thing is daring to make each of our goals and objectives that we set for ourselves and help reach each of our dreams to find happiness.
The seventh step is faith, because it builds confidence and gives us peace of mind and helps us control our doubts, worries and fears and remember that faith can move mountains.
The eighth step is the blessings and we must be thankful for all that we have in life. Let’s do a short exercise please stop for a second and think of something you feel really grateful and thankful to have in your life. You see it is very easy to think of something nice and I imagine that there are over a thousand blessings for which we must be eternally grateful. For example the ability to walk, you can hug a loved one, to be able to smile. That’s where we find our treasure!
The ninth step is the privilege of giving. We must learn to give without expecting anything in return, because it is the true way in which we find true happiness. Giving is more than simply economic or giving something to receive something in return. Giving can become so complex that the remedy is included in learning to give from the heart.
The tenth step is to enjoy everything to the maximum, like learning to enjoy the little things that make up the day to day. For example, enjoy a cup of coffee, a conversation with friends or a sincere hug. This can help us to discover such wonderful prospects that could give you a wonderful twist to your lives.
The eleventh step is not to judge. We must learn to respect the ideas of others. Also understand the circumstances that lead people to act in ways that may we not understand, remembering that each person is different.
Finally, the twelfth step and certainly in my view one of the most important is humor. A smile is worth more than anything in life, and the most beautiful thing is that it costs nothing and is available to all of us. They say a smile costs less than electricity, but it creates light. Humor helps us to sow hope, so always smile.
We have to remember that happiness is an attitude towards life. Therefore get up with a smile, discovers the bright side of everything and think how lucky and fortunate you are to have everything you need. And remember to be happy…
